Portugal Ventures announced today that Storyo was selected for investment following its submission to the Call For Entrepreneurship.

The Tomar-based startup turns your photos into stories, considering the metadata in your photos (like time and location) along with other bits and pieces of information it harvests online, like maps. It brings photos and data together in simple video-stories, called storyos. Storyo is available for free for iOS, Android and Fire OS.

Following a soft launch in 2014, CEO Filipe Vasconcellos revealed to Público that in two weeks, more than 80 thousand stories were created. Storyo has gained great popularity and has now users in over 170 countries.

According to Filipe, now it’s time to grow:

Our goal of turning the data we create in our everyday lives into our own personal storyteller has led us to Portugal Ventures, a partner who shares our enormous ambition and is truly committed to supporting our future growth. We’re looking forward to working together as we continue to scale Storyo’s vision.

The 14th edition of the Portugal Ventures Call for Entrepreneurship is now open and projects may be submitted until March 3rd.
