Following the swift nationwide deployment, SIGFOX and NarrowNet invite Portuguese makers to connect with the future of the Internet of Things on the 11th and 12th of February, in Lisbon and Porto

SIGFOX, the global leader in cost-effective, energy-efficient Internet of Things connectivity, has recently kicked off a European road trip with its SIGFOX Makers Tour. The tour is a series of workshops all around Europe, to support communities of developers and makers to use SIGFOX’s technology and network to create new use cases. Following the swift deployment of the network in Portugal, which already covers more than 90% of the population and 75% of territory, the tour will stop in Lisbon’s top incubator, Startup Lisboa, on February 11, in collaboration with Productized. UPTEC, the Science and Technology Park of University of Porto, will host the tour on February 12.

The SIGFOX Makers Tour in Lisbon and Porto will include a half-day workshop featuring a presentation on SIGFOX’s connectivity solution and the opportunity for participants to use the company’s technology with a development kit. Each participant will be allowed to keep the kit and will receive a one-year subscription to the SIGFOX network, allowing him or her to develop and test their ideas for future IoT applications.

SIGFOX and NarrowNet expect many enthusiastic participants, whose admission to the event is free. Seating is extremely limited and participants will be chosen to ensure a homogenous group of technical profiles. Applications here.

SIGFOX is the world’s leading provider of dedicated connectivity for the Internet of Things. The company’s network complements existing high-bandwidth systems by providing simple, economical, energy-efficient two-way transmission of small quantities of data over long distances, thus lowering barriers to wide implementation of IoT solutions, and greatly extending the battery and service life of connected devices. Currently deployed or being rolled-out in the U.S. and 11 European countries and registering over 5 million devices in its network, SIGFOX is today the only IoT-dedicated connectivity solution commercially available that guarantees a high level of service and reliability on an international scale. Corporate headquarters are in France, and the company has offices in Boston, Dubai, Madrid, Singapore and San Francisco. NarrowNet is the SIGFOX Network Operator in Portugal, an entirely new Portuguese company exclusively created to develop the Internet of Things in Portugal, under the SIGFOX technology.
