Portugal’s startups in the hospitality industry are flourishing with at least two success stories coming out this week.
This week Portugal Ventures sold its stakes in two hospitality startups while Infraspeak, whose clients include InterContinental and Sheraton, announced that it will be opening new offices abroad in London and Barcelona.
Portugal Ventures sells stakes in 2 hospitality startups
Today, Portugal Ventures announced it has sold its stakes in two Portuguese hospitality startups from its traveltech portofolio, B-Guest and GuestU, to Nonius Hospitality Technology.
The acquisition of both platforms will allow the Portuguese tech company, Nonius, to strengthen its growth in cutting-edge technology in the hotel sector.
“Portugal Ventures is proud to contribute to the growth of these two startups, placing them side by side with the market leader. As we sell GuestU and B-Guest to Nonius, we contribute to the improvement of services in the hotel industry and to the dynamism of the tourism industry and our economy,” said Celso Guedes de Carvalho, CEO at Portugal Ventures.
GuestU allows users to interact with the facilities and services of the hotel whether they are inside or outside the property, as well as with the surrounding city.
“This consolidation will allow us to accelerate the growth of GuestU, a 100% Portuguese technology [company]; it also places us closer to our vision of becoming a leading worldwide player in the guest experience area,” said Euclides Major, CEO at GuestU.
B-Guest offers automated check-in/check-out; multi-channel marketing campaigns pre-, during, and post-stay; a multi-channel mobile concierge; a ratings system; and a wifi landing page.
“Nonius’s investment in B-Guest makes perfect sense; it will allow us to accelerate product development and sales by rapidly entering their existing base of over 1,600 clients, which is fundamental to the growth, consolidation, and internationalization of the company,” said B-Guest CEO José Vieira Marques.
Infraspeak operations management startup with hospitality clients to open offices in London and Barcelona
By supporting more than 20 chain hotels including Sheraton, InterContinental, Vila Galé, Porto Bay, DHM, and Savoy, Infraspeak recently announced its 100th customer and the 237% growth in monthly subscription revenue.
The operations management startup that supports the hospitality industry will now open two new offices in London and Barcelona as well as take-on new hires.
“In the first three years we focused on developing a simple and efficient product that brings real value to our customers’ day-to-day lives,” Co-Founder Felipe Ávila da Costa told O Jornal Economico.
“Today, we want to take this value to managers and technicians from more countries, reinforcing the global expansion of Infraspeak,” he added.
Infraspeak intends to solve bureaucratic and financial management issues for organizations. Three years later, it is present in six countries and has more than five million maintenance tasks performed, and 106 clients.
“We are relentless in listening to customers in order to translate their needs into platform functionality, and the results achieved prove that the strategy is working,” added Co-Founder and CTO Luís Martins.
