Portugal continues to gather interest from international startups that want to be inside the hottest tech ecosystem in Europe and there’s a new team moving to Lisbon.
Meet Pipedrive, a CRM platform designed to help small and medium businesses sell more. Founded in 2010 in Estonia, Pipedrive has customers in more than 140 countries and offices in 4 cities – New York, Tallinn, Tartu – and now, Lisbon.
What are they doing exactly? “We help salespeople focus on actions that close deals.” says Martin Kõiva, Pipedrive’s Sales Manager in Europe.
Pipedrive is a tool used by over 30,000 companies around the world, with 240+ employees and is the 14th fastest growing software company in the Inc. 5000 list gathering 31 million dollars in funding from investors like Atomico, Bessemer Venture Partners and Rembrandt Venture Partners.
Curiously, Portuguese is the second official customer support language since 2014 and Brazil is a key market. With all this, when thinking about an important city to open a new office, Lisbon comes first in the list of priorities. Martin Kõiva explained,
while Tallinn has amazing technical talent, it’s a small city and to continue growing, we needed a new location. We came on a research trip during Web Summit and after that it was already an emotional bond too. Lisbon is a difficult city not to love and the local community seemed like a great group of people.
Apart from the curiosity about the city, the aim for 2017 is to be nothing less than a top employer in the city through the offering of attractive conditions for the best talent – “We’ll probably end the year with 50 engineers and support people in Lisbon and the location as a key part of the company.”
Expectations for now?
Pipedrive aims to become a full member of the community and I do believe we have some experience that we could share to help Lisbon go faster. We have experience with countless different technologies, business approaches and markets and many of the people that are with the company count as top professionals in their industry.
