Does Farfetch mean anything to you? It might mean that something is highly imaginative but unlikely or that it was brought from far. But I’m talking about a different Farfetch, the Portuguese startup on designer luxury fashion for men and women that has raised $108.5 Million in 4 Rounds from 5 Investors since 2007.
Have you heard of Asap54 or Gleam? Portuguese startups on fashion. The first was born last year and has raised $3.8 Million to date, the second has raised €940k from Portugal Ventures and Faber Ventures.
As you can see, there are some startups here unveiling themselves as a powerful marriage between fashion and technology and some, quite successful.
Fashion is a multi billion dollar industry and a challenge for creative and dreamy minds.
It’s important to make room for the people interested in this field to learn more. And that’s what Santo Thyrso Factory‘s incubator on fashion and design is now doing. “Há modas que vêm por bem” is a conference organized by the incubator with the support of the Municipality that’s bringing together founders, investors and entrepreneurs for two days of discussions on tech, fashion, entrepreneurship and how to get all of this together.
João Vasconcelos (Startup Lisboa’s Director), Emanuel Proença (ES Ventures), Andreia Campos (Gleam’s Managing Director) and Diogo Cruz (Vertty’s founder) are some of the speakers on a first day full of panels as “The young successful Portuguese entrepreneurs”, “How to get investment” and “Building startup ecosystems”.
The second day will count with a Global Shapers Salon. Global Shapers is an international community whose mission is to provide youth with a global platform to positively shape the future.
