Caixa Capital announced the successful exit of its investment in Nonius, a leading provider of digital guest services for the global hospitality sector.
As part of a new ambitious growth cycle, the founders of Nonius, António Silva and Leonel Domingues, are increasing their stake in Nonius capital and creating a new shareholder structure where Seed and Venture Capital is replaced by Private Equity. Along with the management team, and with the backing of Private Equity player OXY Capital, they led the buyout generating a superior return for Caixa Capital’s VC fund.

What is Nonius?
With headquarters in Porto, Nonius offers technology that enables hospitality operators to provide their guests cutting edge digital services including communication, infotainment, multimedia solutions and services for Hotels, Hospitals and Cruise Ships. The Company specializes in High Speed Internet Access (HSIA), Interactive TV using IPTV technology, digital signage, IP telephony, mobile applications, and entertainment content.
For 2015, Nonius has estimated sales of over €7 million in 26 countries. The company services more than 110,000 rooms across Europe, the Americas, Africa and Middle-East, and among its key international customers we can find big hotel chains like Accor, Corinthia, Meliá, Sheraton, Pestana, Tivoli, Altis and Sana.

Since the investment in 2011, Caixa Capital worked closely with the Nonius’ management and provided funding to help it expand its operations and capitalize on global growth opportunities in Europe and Latin America, overseeing a greater than 4x increase in annual revenues and a significant rise in profitability during its tenure.
