logo coacherCoacher, a web/mobile app for football coaches to collect game and training data and analyse it with intelligent statistics, raised more than £100,000 on Seedrs, an equity crowdfunding platform.

Founded in London by two Portuguese entrepreneurs, Hugo Cortez and Vitor Almeida, Coacher enables football coaches to develop better players and win more matches. With innovative data capturing capabilities, powerful statistics and in depth practice planning, coaches can now take their coaching one step further.

The amount raised will be used to improve the product and to increase the number of members of the team –  they are looking for people for mobile development in Lisbon.

According to Hugo Cortez, CEO and Co-founder of Coacher, the team chose Seedrs to simplify and speed up the investment process, and also to give the coaches community the chance of getting involved in a project related to their passion: the football. “Having our community investing leads to greater loyalty in the use of Coacher and to a powerful spread the word through the network of trainers who already know the product.”

The idea of Coacher came up when Hugo stopped playing football (due to an injury) and started coaching. That was when he faced the problem that Coacher aims to solve: an amateur football coach records a massive array of information each season, such as training data, match data, and regular admin data. This is generally done using pen, paper, and Excel, which is inefficient and difficult. With an estimated market of 6 million coaches all over the world, Coacher improves the work of the amateur and semi-professional football coaches, gathering a bunch of features that no other software has at this point.

“One thing I have learned from my experience is that it does not matter what league you are coaching, from amateur kids to professional football, we all want our team to win and amateur coaches also want to use technology to improve team and player performance.”
